PURE WHITE 2014

“Did you...DO you notice something missing, Tammy?” Brandon asked

his childhood friend.

Tammy pursed her lips and looked around the courtyard. Shrugging,

she responded with a simple, “Nope.” Brandon grunted. His Super senses

were tingling. It bothered him. Several people had had the same nonchalant

reply that Tammy had given him, expressed uniquely from each mouth.

He distantly finished their conversation, lost in thought. No offense, but it

wasn't hard to carry on with Tammy when she did most of the heavy lifting.

He smirked, pleased with himself and mentally added. Pun intended.

“Hey.” Todd glanced from side to side before guiding Brandon and Tammy

into a shadowed corner.

“Hey.” Brandon said, brow quirked “What's up, Todd?”

“Yeah!” Giggled Tammy, amused. “What's the 411? Do tell- I want all the

juicy details!” Todd frowned.

“No. Not today. I want to know what you know.” His voice hardened.

“What I know? I know many things.” Tammy said with mock conceit. She

was well aware of her shortcomings, one being physically short and a little

slow in the head.

“We need to talk.” This was directed toward Brandon. “Not here.”

“Agreed. When and where?” Brandon could see that this mattered a great

deal to Todd, whatever it may be. He wasn't joking this time. Todd seemed

on edge. His whole body conveyed nervous energy, neck and arms tense,

showing veins.

“I don't now.”

“What about the old sanctuary?” Tammy cheerfully interjected, missing the

tone of their words. The boys stopped, considering her suggestion. Even oblivious,

Tammy spouted good ideas on occasion.

“Yeah.” Todd said shortly, nodding. “That should do.” He looked up, meeting

Brandon's eyes. “Grab something you can eat on the go at dinner and meet me

at the Old Sanctuary by Seven fifteen. Bring...only those you trust. Two people.”

Todd looked away. “I need to talk with Sheile and Jesse next. Titus should be fine.”

He grunted. It was decided. Now he let the fear set in. Todd was in over his head.

He needed every able Super to... to do what? Todd did not know, but they would.

Great minds think alike, but also from different angles. Each Super was like a small

glass shard, reflecting light from odd facets of broken beauty. Todd snorted as he

walked away. Never knew I was such a dawn sucker for analogy. Titus will never

let me hear the end of it if he finds out that I ramble poetry in my mind!

BOX 2014

IT IS AMAZING HOW WORDS ARE USED IN
THE CYBER WORLD.
THEY WILL TAKE A LIFE OF THEIR OWN IF YOU SPEAK
TOO READILY- ANY TIME, ANY WHERE.
YOUR WORDS WILL
BE SHARED, RETWEETED,
BOOKMARKED, AND FAVORITED.
IT IS A LITTLE CREEPY HOW INTIMATE DETAILS BECOME PROFANE
ONLINE, anyone HAS ACCESS ONCE POSTED.
SHARE WHAT YOU FEEL IS APPROPRIATE.
SOMETIMES I SHARE SHOCKING FACTS ABOUT myself ON SOCIAL MEDIA BECAUSE BELIEVE THAT THE WEBSITE IS DIVERSE
AND SO OBVIOUS THAT I FEEL
AS THOUGH I AM HIDING IN plain SIGHT!
GENERALLY, I AM FRIENDS WITH my FRIENDS
AND FAMILIAR STRANGERS.
I'M COOL WITH THAT. I PREFER TO RECEIVE
ADVICE FROM BOTH
INSIDE and OUTSIDE MY BOX OF LIFE.
WHETHER YOU KNOW ME OR NOT, I SHALL RESPECT YOUR OPINION.
I ASKED FOR IT.
BUT REMEMBER THIS:
YOU MAY mean WELL, BUT EVEN SOME QUESTIONS ARE MEAN.

Sunday 2014

SUNDAY

Yesterday was Incredible!

1st, I got LOST.
Here's a little backstory-
I got  up really really early for no reason 400 am.
Snuggled in the warm cocoon of my bed until 530 am.
I had gone to sleep, well, early the night before so I
COULD have gotten up and 4 am with 8 hours of rest.
Anyway, I kind of had a headache.
That is why I decided to BAKE instead of clean.

Couldn't work on my book. My laptop was occupied.
So I made CHEESY BISCUITS. Not enough flour for
a double recipe.

As I stirred a single batch, I thought,
"Gosh, I'll have to take half to boyfriend's house because there isn't enough for my WHOLE family!"

He was coming over AFTER church, but because of the CB
I decided to SURPRISE him by going to see him at his parent's
church. He says it is HIS church too, but we haven't decided where
WE want to go as a couple...
Got lost...
He SAID it was in the SAME building as New Life, but NL told me
it had MOVED to WST.
Guess what WST said...

Nothing.

The parking lot was DESERTED!
I had driven 30 miles out of my way.
I said, "WHAT THE HECK?!!!"
SO.
I went to New Life and had an awesome time seeing old friends <3 <3 <3

Then I went home.

My sweetie was suppose to come by 1 pm.
He was ONE hour LATE.
I had been texting his family all morning and had not heard a PEEP.
I knew he was fine, I KNEW he was in the hand of GOD...

but.................

I began to worry, then fret. Visions of bad things and silly excused swimmed
before my mind's eye. I KNEW he was fine.
I decided that was going to drive to his house and surprise him.
My parents said, "NO."

Went for a walk.

4 cars later my boyfriend comes down the road.

We go out. He came to visit my family, but we need to be alone for a little while.
I was to the point of tears. To be fair, I was quite tired.

We went to the park.
Walked the pier.
Collected shells.

We SAW:

hopping salmon

broken and whole shells

Calm Chilly water

TONS of jellyfish- in AND out of the water!

Many seagulls-

At one point, a dark shadow appeared in the shallows.
It was shocking...I thought it was a tiny whale, he believed it to be a SHARK.

Guess what?

It

was

a

Sea Lion!

We went out for

ice cream <3

There was a local single/double scoop shop right next to the park.
It was sooo yummy!

Then he  proposed at my Grandma's house!

She had a ring and we took it with Grateful hearts. ;)

And, well- that was SUNDAY.

PURE WHITE

Dim light could be seen through the lab windows. Security guards walked their nightly routines, shining flashlights in nooks, corners, and empty doorways. High voltage weapons hung casually from each man's hip. The evening was warm. It was a relief from the intense heat of midday and late afternoon. Summer day-shift was called Salt Water, something you wanted to cross off your bucket list!
Todd watched silently from the shadows. As he stood shifting his molecules in the humid dusk Todd become a shadow. He narrowed his coal eyes, any stray source of light causing them to glint from his hiding place in the alley. His skin rose and fell a sandy gray, blending in with it's surroundings. Todd's skin constantly changed color and texture, rolling...shifting. His Talent. He had adopted quickly, loving the ability to go unnoticed. Contrary to what people saw during class hours at the Rookie Academy, as a Super Todd valued the Talent of stealth along side his loud humor. He was good at both. Besides, no one ever saw it coming- the obnoxious prankster, a Super night snitch.

He waited for the next round of guards to pass, lights bobbed as they walked, flashing. Todd tensed as one stopped, having seen something glint against the back of an alley wall. The stilt house form of a boy stood plastered against the bricks. The other guard gave his buddy a friendly shove. They moved on, the first guard grunting as he followed his partner down the road. Another hour and the pair would be finished for the night. Todd let out a slow breath, heart pounding in his chest. He was getting sloppy. Either that, or the guards were becoming better. As the program had increased in Rookie Supers, more guards had been seen prowling Academy grounds. Everyone assumed it was crowd control. Not Todd. They were becoming better. The school had started hiring better, at least. The new guys were sharp as tacks. Similar to Shimmer Sabers- the ceremonial light blade. It felt odd to the young man- queer. Something was wrong. Very wrong. Why hired more hands with greater skill? As a concerned party and general 'know it all', Todd had to Know! He was like a Rottweiler- handsome, but vicious. Possible attack, but highly unlikely. Todd was a snitch. It came with the territory. These thoughts flashed through his mind as he moved down the alleyway, avoiding dark puddles. After the first few sets of soaked shoes, you learned. Todd cautiously peered around the corner, night vision- another Talent- raking the broad courtyard for any sign of life. No one about. Good. That would make his task easier. Most were settling into their beds. Crickets pitched their whistled tune in the growing dark. Feet trod in the distance, mutely sounding as old worn boots scuffed against familiar cobblestones. The teenage boy nodded decisively, quickly advancing across the courtyard. Todd hunched, hands sprawled high like wings as he loped toward his target. It was a long stretch. His throat was dry as he reached the key panel. Licking his thumbs, Todd shifted and delicately pressed the small cushioned numbers as he typed an access code he had snitched.
